Hitting my 40s

I know how it feels to suddenly feel as if the warranty has expired on your body.

One day it is a random knee ache, the next you are dragging yourself through the day like someone has pulled the plug on your energy supply. It's not even that you can put your finger on it—just this creeping sense of falling apart, bit by bit.

My journey into health coaching began after a major surgery in my 40s. Physiologically I was fit in less than 6 weeks, as anticipated by the medics. But I simply felt I had aged by two decades. If that was what it was like to grow old, I dreaded it. I decided to completely overhaul my lifestyle, took the time to understand how my body works, and in the process retrained as in coaching and lifestyle medicine.

Today, as a Registered Health Coach I bring science-backed, sustainable lifestyle information to the table, so you can understand how your body works and you can decide how best to fuel it and take care of it. Seeing clients regain control of their health and wellness is incredibly rewarding, and I am honoured to be a part of their journeys.

Why Orange Unjuiced?

I am as Mediterranean as they come ...

... born and raised on the island of Malta, right in the heart of this vast shimmer sea of deep blue. I live in Lija, a charming village known for its ancient citrus
trees— and very much prized by the Knights of Malta in the 1600s. Our centuries-old garden even has a special variety called ‘Bahia’. When you peel back the segments of a Bahia orange, hidden deep inside, you’ll find a tiny bonus orange—a little surprise from nature.

For years, I used to start my day with a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice. By tossing out the pulp, I was ditching the good stuff —the fibre—and guzzling down liquid sugar instead. Within an hour, I'd be totally h-angry.

So, Orange Unjuiced is the first of many small, savvy behaviour changes I have embraced for a healthier, more energetic life. The thing about health coaching is, once you peel one unhealthy habit, it’s like that Bahia orange—more delightful health surprises keep coming your way!

And finally...

With my family scattered across Europe, I’m often hopping between Malta, Belgium, Spain, Sicily and the UK.

In my free time, when I’m not off on some ultra-walking adventure with my Significant Other, you’ll find me swimming in the Mediterranean (that's me running down those steps!), forest-bathing among the towering Sonian trees, or in some kitchen doing my best impression of the typical Mediterranean mamma—feeding our now not-so- young-anymore children.

And my not-so-secret wish? That Malta, my beloved home country, rediscovers its Mediterranean roots and one day makes it to the blue zone map —one healthy habit at a time!
